Please note this is a minibus rental, not a guided tour. You rent a seat on the bus. We provide a recommended itinerary to help guide you.

You will rent your seat as either a ‘driver’ or ‘non-driver’.

Non-drivers must never drive. Drivers can share driving and must be aged 21+

A few days before your trip you will be given a full guide with free activities, paid activities, recommended campsites to visit, access to discounts, as well as recommended sights to see.

Please bring your own water bottle, sunscreen and torch. However please limit your luggage to about 20kg - 1 big bag, and one day bag/small backpack.

The minibus seats 12, anyone with a regular driver's license can drive it. There is a trailer attached with all camping equipment and space for your bags.

We've not quite finalised the day-by-day itinerary, so watch this space. However the current plan is:

Day One: Cairns to Port Douglas

Meet your crew, load up the bus and find out how the equipment works, then get started on the road to Port Douglas. Port Douglas is known as where the 'rainforest meets the reef' and is the entry way to the Daintree Rainforest.

Day Two: Daintree Rainforest/Cape Tribulation

The Daintree is the world's oldest rainforest. It has waterfalls, swimming holes, and animals that you can't find anywhere else. Enjoy a few hikes in this area, and the beautiful surroundings, before relaxing and the rainforest meets beach area of Cape Tribulation.

Day Three: Atherton Tablelands

It's day three that you start heading East, exploring watefalls on the way. Check out the Mount Hypipamee crater and Millstream Falls: the widest single drop waterfall in Australia. Continue until Innot Hot Springs, where you can jump in, relax and camp next to. Make sure you check where the cooler parts of the spings are: these can get seriously hot!

Day Four: Undara Lava Tubes & Mount Surprise

Check out the Undara Lava Tubes. You can only access these on a guided tour due to a high CO2 level in the tubes, and it is a bit expensive. However, there are other volcanic features nearby you can see such as the Kalkani Crater and volcano walk. There is also the Forty Mile Scrub National Park which has unique vegetation due to the volcanic activity in the area. Once you've check out this area, continue on to Mount Surprise. Mount surprise is a small town, but it boasts an opportunity to find a variety of gems such as topaz or quartz. Stop by Mount Surprise Gems to pick up a 'fossicking license' and equipment to find your own.

Day Five: Georgetown-Croydon-Normanton

You could try fossicking for gems in the morning. Once done, head west to drive through towns that were set up during Australia's gold rush, and must have some of the oldest buildings in Australia. Georgetown has a free pool ;), but stop at the visitors centres in Croydon and Normaton to find some info on these towns, as well as do the heritage trail. In Normanton there is a sculpture of a giant crocodile caught by a local, check it out.

Day Six: Karumba

Drive up to Karumba to check out a small town located on the Gulf of Carpentaria. Spend some time checking out the Gulf and sights of the town. We'll book you a Gulf Sunset and Croc spotting tour so you can really enjoy the region.

Day Seven: Cloncurry

It's a long beautiful drive down to Cloncurry 'Queensland's friendliest town'. Enjoy the view of termite hills and once in Cloncurry enjoy the 'outback life'. You can check out sheep shearing, one of the 11 working mines in the area, and the Royal Flying Doctor Museum. The Royal Flying Doctor actually started in Cloncurry. In terms of nature, you can get a beautiful lookout nearby and camp at a dam. There is also an interesting ghost town nearby.

Day Eight: Mount Isa and Border Crossing.

Stop by Mt Isa as you continue east. Check out the Hard Times working replica mine. The town is famous for rodeos, and also has an underground hospital you can visit. Continue West to cross the NT/QLD and travel back in time. Stop by a homestead if you wish.

Day Nine: Tennant Creek/Threeways Roadhouse

The last day of long driving, make your way to Tennant Creek or the Threeways Roadhouse (beforehand). In Tennant Creek you could try out horse-riding, as well as check out Idigenous art and just get your laundry done.

Day Ten: Daly Waters

An oasis in the middle of nowhere, people travel from hours away to visit. In fact, its so busy you will need to book if you want a meal at this pub. This is a truly unique place so you can spend some hours here to explore. This is a place where people are supposed to 'leave their mark' and people have left all sorts of things and the walls are covered with people's stuff. Camp in Daly Waters.

Day Eleven: Mataranka Hot Springs and Bitter Springs

After a few days of driving take some time to enjoy the day in the hot springs at Mataranka and Bitter Springs. You can use the noodles to start at the top of the hotsprings, and then float down to then end, jump out and do it all again

Day Twelve: Katherine / Nitmiluk

Head to Katherine and stock up at the supermarket and have lunch. Then drive to the incredible Nitmiluk Gorge and take the short walk up to check out and incredible lookout of the gorge (sunset is a great time to do this). Investigate any short walks in the region, and then enjoy an early night so you can get up for the Butterfly Gorge walk the next morning.

Day Thirteen: Nitmiluk National Park

We recommend you do the Butterfly Gorge walk this morning. Its quite long, but beautiful. It'll take you through a gorge filled with butterflies, until you finally arrive at the water-filled gorge where you can jump in, enjoy the view or go for a swim. Once done, you can head to Edith Falls to camp, or find another camp near by to relax at.

Day Fourteen: Edith Falls

Enjoy the waterfalls at Edith Falls. You can head out on some trails to find some adjoining waterfalls and swimming areas.

Day Fifteen/Sixteen: Litchfield National Park.

Visit Litchfield National park close to Darwin. See magnetic termite mounds, waterfalls, nice creeks and more. Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole are highly recommended! There are so many attractions here within a short drive of each other; and you will always have a place to swim and a beautiful hike to do.

Day Seventeen

Start making your way to Darwin. Stop by Berri Springs for a last taste of the hot springs. Clean up the minibus/trailer ready for arrival then arrive in Darwin to stay at the included hostel and enjoy a beer on the beach. You don't have to return the car until 6pm so you can check out other sights in the area if you have time.
